Basic Information on reading Floor Plan

Doors

Firstly, it is easier to visualize yourself at the main door of the unit. You can then see how the living hall, kitchen, and bedrooms are connected. Doors are labeled as quarter-circles. The arc of the door symbol indicates if the door swings inwards or outwards.

Windows

Next, the windows are marked with thin hollow lines. There are 2 types of windows in Singapore, namely casement or sliding windows.

Walls

Next, you can differentiate the bold lines and normal lines through the thickness from the floor plan. Bold lines are structural walls that cannot be hacked. Normal lines are non-structural walls that can be safely removed.

Facing

Lastly, it is important to know the facing of doors and windows. North-facing is indicated at the corner of the floor plan and you can tell the directions easily from the site plan.
